I started playing at the age of 15, and was teaching lessons
at 17 and at 18 I was playing in the bars. That was many years ago. Since then,
I’ve played guitar professionally on weekends while still in college. I
graduated with a music minor (at this school, believe me, it was equivalent to
a major anywhere else!) with an emphasis in guitar. I played in the college
jazz band, took classical guitar lessons, and played in a country rock band on
weekends (most of the time I didn’t practice with the band during the week;
just listened to the latest music played on the radio, figured what key the
band was playing in, and played the lead guitar). I taught guitar at community colleges
and in my home for years. I’ve created and published a CD of my own original
songs and music.
I’m now ready to offer my teaching skills again in people’s
homes. If you are fortunate enough to get some of my time because you live close, I'll teach a select few in their home. For most, you'll be able to "listen in" via my weekly posts (and hopefully later a book/CD combo). I’ll use a combination of things I've learned via books that are available, from my experience and costly training, and my own studies
for teaching beginner to advanced, in any area requested. And as mentioned, I’ll also use this blog
to communicate with students between lessons. I’ve taught people ages 5 (prefer
them to be 10 or so) and up to people in their 60’s.
I’m not cheap, but I am good. I’ve taught other areas of training on the
college level and continue to do so. All teaching is “teaching” and I know how
to communicate and take you where you want to go on the guitar.
It doesn’t matter if you are just starting or have been
playing for a while, if you are serious, let’s get together here and jam!
